About Our Founder

MER-Pink_Clouds_Hulahoops

Founder & Creative Director Meredith Anne Brown, a former professional journalist and Miami native, remains living and operating the business in South Florida today. She is forthright about her extensive struggles with addiction and alcoholism and the many self-imposed consequences (legal & otherwise) she has suffered as a result. Proud and open about her life in recovery (as reflected in her Blog ‘Recover Out Loud’) albeit garnished with past recurrences of active addiction, she trudges forward. She respects and honors others’ right to choose whether to be private or public of their individual journeys in or outside recovery. The University of Hartford Class of ’93 graduate’s consistent conviction is that Pink Clouds & Hula Hoops’ Recover Out Loud (ROL) philosophies may not be for everyone and that the brand is in no way affiliated with any recovery fellowship, institution nor any political action committees thereof.

“We’re just a fun-loving brand created by people in recovery for people in recovery, its peripheral and those like-minded living by spiritual, empowering and positive principles and… of course, whoever likes our shirts, she winks 😉 & smiles adding,”I hope to be a prime example of the ability to rebound from profound loss many, including myself, experience living in active addiction. We are the company that believes in comebacks. In recovery – anything is possible… We must “dwell in possibility.”

Pink Clouds & Hula Hoops (PCHH) is a lifestyle retail brand featuring spiritually stylish shirts; clever sobriety gifts & novelties by means of its online boutique and grass-roots presence at local festivals and recovery-related gatherings.

Pink Clouds and Hula Hoops was founded/created in 2014 to fill a void in the marketplace with a brand exclusive to the world of recovery – hence messaging on all merchandise speaks the wide-spread language & spiritual principles of recovery namely from alcoholism & addiction – spreading uplifting, inspirational philosophies of empowerment appealing to many in the mainstream as well. Inspired by Life is good.®, TOMS Shoes and other similar “do good; feel good” concept brands in the mainstream, Pink Clouds and Hula Hoops has two objectives in addition to yet as important as sales:

Our “Do Good”

Paying It Forward – donating portion of monthly revenue to recovery-related Not-For-Profits as well as ultimately launching its own recovery scholarship fund

and

Our “Feel Good”

~ Spread spiritual & positive messages of hope, happiness, faith, EMPOWERMENT, inspiration & unity.
~ Advocate & join the ever-expanding movement to “Break the Stigma”; the hushed archaic stigma to be “In Recovery” and to, in our words,
R-O-L (Recover Out Loud) – a proud & positive phenomenon of second chances & silver linings!

In short:

Launched in early 2015 with an e-commerce online boutique & physical presence at art, music, food festivals and recovery-related gatherings; Pink Clouds & Hula Hoops’ “on the beam” team looks forward to honoring, representing & catering to those who embrace recovery as a way of life!
